Roads, Rail and Bikes

While sitting in traffic or trying to cross a busy intersection on foot most of us don’t think about the city’s transportation plan, but decisions about that plan directly affect our everyday lives.  During the term of Council Place 5, the City of Round Rock will be updating our transportation master plan, which is an important task for our community.  The strategic goals include 6 related initiatives affecting transportation plans.

I am glad to see that there is a concerted effort to plan future connectivity, expansion of existing roadways, consideration of how best to service density developments, development of public transportation (rail & buses) and identifying funding sources.

In addition to the above, I would advocate that while we are planning the movement of vehicles, we include planning of safe zones for a network of bicycle lanes from neighborhoods to commercial districts.  I would also advocate planning of safe zones for pedestrians along existing and new roadways.
